Panamera Concept

A sports car of uncompromising performance. A sedan of uncompromising luxury. These aims couldn’t be further apart, yet the new Porsche Panamera somehow incorporates them both, seamlessly. It is a performance sedan offering sumptuous comfort for four. It is, at the same time, a Porsche—capable of eliciting driving pleasure that is the stuff of dreams. Yet equally capable of being driven every day.The power of contradiction? Porsche has used it to create something utterly distinctive: the Panamera.

In the very beginning, there were doubters. When Ferdinand Porsche and his son designed the first car to bear the family name, few could grasp how this radical new concept would evolve into a game-changing sports car. Decades later, when the Porsche Panamera was unveiled, again there were skeptics. A four-door Porsche?

With luggage but without compromise? That’ll never work, they said. But it did,as we now know. The Panamera gave the luxury sports sedan a new lease on life and silenced the doubters.

Job done, we could have said. But Porsche wouldn’t be Porsche if we rested on our laurels. Our more than 30,000 racing victories could not have been achieved if we’d been satisfied with conventional thinking. By focusing on what we call Intelligent Performance, our ideas continually improve.

The result is the new Panamera model range. With a design evolved to enhance aerodynamics and aesthetics. With engines that offer not just power, but powerful efficiency. And with a spacious cabin integrating new technologies that let you connect your worlds.

Engines

The enemy of performance and efficiency is weight. To make the Panamera a sports sedan with there flexes and responsiveness of a Porsche, we start with engines that are as compact and light weight as possible, without sacrificing either power or stamina.

VarioCam Plus

How is a Panamera able to produce instant acceleration and extremely smooth running as well as extraordinary power with comparatively low fuel consumption? One key reason is VarioCam Plus. A two-in-one engine concept for adjusting the intake and exhaust camshafts and switching the lift of the intake valves, VarioCam Plus differentiates between driver inputs that typify normal, everyday driving and those inputs that demand maximum power. Valve operation is then adapted automatically to prevailing conditions.

Variable Camshaft Control

In the V6 combustion engine of the new Panamera S E-Hybrid, fully variable camshaft control is used to adjust the intake camshaft timing. The result is high specific output and high torque—even at low engine speeds.

Auto Start Stop Function

The fuel-saving Auto Start Stop system works like this: As soon as you come to a halt and keep your foot on the brake pedal, the system will automatically stop the engine, and restart the engine the moment you release the brakes.

Coasting

Another fuel-saving technology is the coasting function available with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). It enables you to save even more fuel when the situation allows.* The engine is decoupled from the transmission to prevent deceleration caused by engine braking. The Panamera S E-Hybrid goes one step further and switches off the engine completely. In this way, optimal use is made of the Panamera model’s momentum, allowing it to coast for longer distances. This achieves a noticeable reduction in fuel consumption with no impact on comfort or sporty performance.

Porsche Car Connect

Acceleration is key for us.
It's also key in the digital age.

The world is turning faster and faster. It’s good if you can keep up. And evenbetter, if you can stay one step ahead. Our solution: e-mobility. An overall concept that combines a pioneering drive system, practical charging options, intelligent mobile online services, and efficient performance.

E-Mobility Services are part of Porsche Car Connect (PCC). They enable you to call up all the important information about your Panamera S E-Hybrid remotely via a smartphone app. Using Remote Services, you can find out statistical data on your vehicle, such as the distance driven, average speed, or fuel consumption on the last trip. In addition, you can view information on the remaining charging time, battery charge status, or a visual depiction of the electric range. You can also set the charge timer with customizable charging times, while Carfinder shows you the shortest route back to your Porsche from your current location.

Another particularly practical function: Porsche Car Connect (PCC) allows you to check the status of your alarm system or make a break down call at any time from virtually any location. Using a compatible smartphone, you can control the charging process, along with other functions, such as the optional auxiliary climate control, which allows you to heat or cool the interior in advance of any Journey.

Of course, the future will come whatever happens. However, we intend to meet it along the way.

Exterior design

The Panamera models have long since proven that a sedan can also be a sports car. One that promises typical Porsche performance, with four doors and a timeless design. Now we are adding 5.9 inches and extraordinary comfort.
The extended wheelbase of the Panamera Executive models is intended above all to benefit the passengers who sit in the rear compartment. The stretched silhouette emphasizes the elegance, yet maintains the sporty nature.
What else distinguishes the Panamera Executive models? Everything that sets the Panamera models with regular wheel-base apart from the average sedan.A design that is even sharper and more precise, as exemplified by the recognizable large air intakes. The prominent power dome on the hood, the distinctly contoured side skirts and exterior mirrors and the tight and sporty rear end lend the Panamera Executive models a tauter appearance.
At the front, Bi-Xenon™ headlights, each with four integral LED daytime running spotlights, offer excellent visibility and reinforce the sporty look. You can make your Executive model seem even more imposing with optional LED headlights with PDLS+. Resembling the daytime driving lights in color, they provide optimum illumination of the road.
There’s just one thing that’s missing:your very own personal interpretation of the Panamera Executive. With 15 exterior colors (Panamera Turbo S: 16), wheels up to 20 inches in size and many more options from our extensive list, you can ensure that your Panamera model has its own unmistakable character.

Interior design

The new Panamera model’s exquisite interior is designed around four individual seats. This unusual structure offers a high degree of accommodation for four occupants and their luggage, and ensures driving pleasure on both daily commutes and longer journeys.
Of course, the same unconventional thinking applies to the rear hatch.Just as it does to the five circular instruments—long a signature of many Porsche models. With a high resolution color display and the logical grouping of controls, the cluster enables fast and direct access.
In the rear, even taller passengers will find plenty of headroom and legroom. The rear seats fold down separately to create space for larger items of luggage, including your sports equipment.
You choose the colors and materials yourself. An extensive selection of interior colors, interior packages with various Woods, Aluminum, or Carbon Fiber, and many other personalization options means that your decision may not be an easy one. But the result will be all the more individual.
At this point, we would normally be devoting our attention to the driver and describing a sports car ergonomics concept designed entirely around the cockpit. But it can be just as much fun in a Porsche to hand over the steering wheel and let someone else do the driving for a change. In the rear compartment particularly, the Panamera Executive models afford their passengers plenty of freedom. In every respect. The extra 5.9 inches added to the length of the Executive models has above all provided noticeably more legroom at the rear seats. These are 8-way power seats and now recline even further, enabling you to find the ideal sitting position. Thanks to seat heating and ventilation, you can concentrate on your work – or simply enjoy the journey.Other luxury features include comfort headrests, electric backrest adjustment, seat squab length adjustment, lumbar support – and the ability to adjust the front passenger seat from the rear.A large center console for the rear compartment– and for increased storage space – is fitted as standard. The 120-volt socket, an additional 12-volt socket and preparation for a cooling compartment also belong to the standard specification. Optional for the rear is the Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment with two display consoles, two multimedia players and two wireless infrared headphones.
